Golden State at Charlotte Game Overview

Golden State will try and salvage a winning record in this three-game Southeast Division run after splitting the first two games with a win at Orlando followed by Monday’s stunning 105-102 loss to Miami as an 11-point favorite. The total stayed UNDER the 217.5-point line against the Heat and it has stayed UNDER in the Warriors’ last five games. They are now 9-12-1 against the spread on the road this season as part of an overall ATS record of 21-23-1.

You can pretty much chalk up Monday’s loss to an all-around off night. Fatigue could have been a factor in their third road game in four nights and I am sure that the Warriors are looking forward to the flight back to the West Coast following Wednesday’s game. Golden State’s big three each scored 21 points or more in Monday’s loss, but breakdowns in defense at the other end of the court did not help the cause. The Warriors may be the highest scoring team in the league with 117.6 points a game, but they fall all the way to 16th in points allowed (104.9).

Charlotte is also coming off a bad loss in Monday’s 109-99 setback to division rival Washington as a 6.5-point home favorite. This snapped a straight-up three-game winning streak, but since Dec. 31 it is just 4-8 SU in its last 12 games. The Hornets have failed to cover in four of their last six games with the total staying UNDER each time. They are now 12-11 ATS on their home court and 21-23-1 ATS overall.

The Hornets dug themselves into an early hole in Monday’s loss with just 48 first-half points to end the night with fewer than 100 points for the first time in their last four games. Kemba Walker led the team in scoring with 21 points, but he was just 2-for-10 from three-point range. He remains Charlotte’s leading scorer with an average of 23 points a game. The Hornets are averaging 105.2 PPG and defensively they are giving up 103.2 points a game.

Golden State Warriors at Charlotte Hornets Prediction
The Warriors remain a very tricky team to bet on given some of the large spreads they need to cover, especially when playing on the road. Bettors looking to ride the favorite in this one could catch a break with the league’s top team coming off a bad loss. Charlotte has been highly inconsistent from one game to the next so you never know what you are going to get coming off a disappointing loss.
My betting instinct tells me to go with Golden State in this one. The Warriors have the proven capability to rebound quickly and the added day off should do wonders to alleviate any lingering issues with road fatigue.
