Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks Overview

Boston Celtics

Though many may revel in the defensive prowess of Boston, it was their shooting that paved the way to victory in Game One. The Celtics shot an incredulous 54% from the field and hit a remarkable 41.9% of their three-point attempts. On the flip side, the Bucks who finished the season as one of the best shooting teams in the NBA (47.6%) was held to 34.8% from the field.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are scratching their heads after getting stunned on their own floor. The Celtics led this one by as much as 26 points while the Deer never led by more than a basket through the entire game. The Bucks closed out the regular season as the most productive rebounding team in the NBA as they produced 49.7 total boards per game. Nevertheless, the C's seized the frontcourt and outrebounded Milwaukee 51-44 while also outscoring the Bucks 38-28 in the paint.

Reasons To Avoid Boston

In Game One, the Celtics closed as a consensus choice underdog which in itself could be a sign that the favorite is undervalued. In retrospect to Game One’s result, a similar situation has taken shape in Game Two as the Celtics are once again offered at virtually the same price they were in the series opener. Given the element of overreaction that can materialize here, the Celtics look too easy while being set up for a let-down.

Reasons To Back Milwaukee

Even with the ugly loss on their own floor, Milwaukee remains the best team in the NBA at home as the defeat marked just their ninth on the season. As a whole, Milwaukee outscores opponents by an average of 12 points when they are on their own hardwood. This narrative in itself warrants the play as Bucks takers are asked to lay just over half that amount.

Celtics at Bucks Prediction 04/30/2019
Was Game One's result a fluke? On some levels, it wouldn't be crazy to argue it. Boston hit a high percentage of field goals that is unsustainable long-term and likely very hard to repeat in a follow-up. Moreover, the Celtics were dazzling from downtown which also suggests that Boston could be in line for attrition in Game Two. On the year Boston hits 46.5% of their field goals while also finding success on 36.5% of their three-point attempts. Very simply, Boston was firing on all cylinders while Milwaukee had a bad game. I expect the Bucks to shake it off and respond here with a win and a cover to let any nay-sayers know why they finished with the best record in the league.
