When teams get hot, they set themselves up for overlays and overreactions. The Nets are in a position to fall prey to such an event after they have been a broken slot machine as of late to those that have backed them. As a result, we see the Nets getting in the range of spotting similar lumber to some of the better teams Atlanta has faced this year (Boston was a 7.5-point favorite on Atlanta’s court on November 23rd, and Golden State was a 10.5-point favorite in Atlanta) but Brooklyn by no means is in that discussion. In fact, the last time we saw Atlanta taking back eight points on the road they pulled an upset outright in Cleveland, though this was before the public learned how far the Cavs would fall without King James. However, hyperbole will become ripe here with Brooklyn owning wins over Philadelphia in the City of Brotherly Love (by just a three-pointer) and a home win against Toronto (though by a point in overtime) over their four-game winning streak. As a result, the public perception of this outfit could be skewed, and because of this laying, the points seems like an economical move. It would be a far different narrative had Brooklyn lost like they were supposed to against these two teams.
