Kansas City: Jason Hammel (4-6, 4.83 ERA)

<p>
Nelson Liriano goes for the Blue Jays in this series finale and in his last outing he was not sharp giving up five earned runs in four innings in a 6-1 loss to the Texas Rangers. The Blue Jays had won his previous six starts where he went 27 innings and gave up 18 earned runs. The Blue Jays are 2-5 in Liriano’s last seven road starts, but they are 4-0 in his last four starts against a team with a winning record.

<p>
Jason Hammel gets the call for the Royals today and in his last start he was solid giving up two earned runs in seven innings in a 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. Toronto Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction
The Blue Jays have lost three in a row and they have to win today to avoid a sweep in this series. In losing their last three games they have been outscored 19-10. Toronto sits in the basement of the AL East six games out of first place. The Royals have won three in a row and five of their last six games. They are in 3rd place in the AL Central only two games back of the Cleveland Indians. Kansas City got over .500 with yesterday’s win and in beating the Blue Jays in Game 1 of this series they got to .500 for the first time since April. Liriano is coming off a subpar effort and while the Blue Jays had won his previous six starts he was not great, but got a lot of run support. Toronto has lost five of his last seven starts on the road and that is a trend that will continue. Hammel has been very solid in his four June starts and he will have another good start today leading the Royals to a win in this game and they will complete the series sweep.
