New York seems a bit rejuvenated since picking up Anthony Rizzo in a trade last week, while Seattle is still hanging on in the playoff race, probably playing over its head. Lefty and former Mariner Nestor Cortes gets the call for the home team here against fellow southpaw Tyler Anderson for the visitors. <h2>Mariners-Yankees MLB Betting Preview </h2>
<p>Seattle just took two of three games at Tampa Bay, missing out on the sweep by losing Wednesday's series finale 4-3. Just before that, the Mariners lost two of three at Texas, and just before that, they lost two of three to Houston. So the M's are 3-5 over their last eight games. </p>
<p>At 58-51 overall, the Mariners trail first-place Houston by 7.5 games in the AL West, but they're also only three games behind Oakland in the battle for the second American League wild-card spot.

<p>New York, meanwhile, just took two of three games at home from Baltimore, winning Wednesday's series rubber match 10-3. Just before that, the Yankees swept three games at Miami, and just before that, they took two of three at Tampa. So New York is 7-2 over its last nine games and 5-1 since adding Rizzo, who's already hit three homers for his new team.

<p>At 58-49 overall, the Yankees trail first-place Tampa by six games in the AL East, but they're also only two games behind the A's in the battle for that second AL wild-card slot. </p>
<p>This series is the second meeting between these two teams this season; the Yanks took two of three games from the M's in Seattle a month ago.

<h2>Thursday's Pitching Match-Up</h2>
<p><a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/191326" title="Nestor Cortes Pitching Logs">Cortes</a> is 0/3 on quality starts this season, to go along with eight appearances in relief. Last Wednesday, he held Tampa to one run and three hits through 5 1/3 innings, with zero walks and five strikeouts, in a 3-1 New York victory. <p>This will be Anderson's first career start against the Yankees. </p>

Seattle's been on a good run over the last six weeks or so, but we won't be surprised when this team begins to fade. New York, meanwhile, might just be getting hot at just the right time. We're calling the pitching match-up here a push, but we give the Yankees a significant edge with the sticks and a smaller edge in the bullpen comparison. So we like New York here, but we don't' like that price. So we'll take a chance and play the Yanks, giving the run and a half on the run line.
