MLB Betting Odds

Early betting action then dipped the Brewers to -145 and bumped that total to nine.

Milwaukee could also be found getting around +110, giving the run and a half on the run line.

Brewers-Braves MLB Betting Preview

Milwaukee won the opener of this series Friday night, 9-5. The Brewers spotted Atlanta the first four runs of the game, then scored four of their own in the third inning and four more in the fourth, then held on from there. Milwaukee won Friday as a -140 favorite on the betting line and covered against the run at +115, while the game flew over its total of 8.5 runs.

With Friday's victory, the Brewers are 6-1 over their last seven games.

With Friday's loss, the Braves are 7-9 over their last 16 games, alternating wins and losses over their last 15 times out!

At 62-42 overall, Milwaukee leads the NL Central by seven games over second-place Cincinnati. The Brewers also trail San Francisco by just 2.5 games now in the battle for the best record in the National League.

Atlanta is struggling at 51-53 overall but only trails the division-leading Mets by four games in the NL East.

The Braves are missing a couple of key sticks with Ronald Acuna and Marcell Ozuna out on the personnel front but just picked up Adam Duvall from Miami and Jorge Soler from Kansas City in deadline trades. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is playing without OF Christian Yelich, although he hasn't been doing much anyway.

This season series is now tied at two games apiece.

Saturday's Pitching Match-Up

Lefty Muller, called up six weeks ago, is 0/5 on quality starts this season, but some of that has to do with a short leash. Monday, he held the Mets scoreless on four hits through five innings of a 2-0 Atlanta victory. And over his five starts, he's allowed only five runs on 12 hits through 23 2/3 innings, although the 13 walks are a bit much.

The Braves are 2-3 with Muller this season, but that mark should be at least one game better than it is.

This will be Muller's first-ever action against Milwaukee.

Woodruff is 15/20 on quality starts this season. Last Sunday, he allowed three runs and five hits through seven innings of a 3-1 Brewers loss to the White Sox. And over his last three starts, he's allowed six runs – five earned – and 16 hits through 18 2/3 innings, with six walks against 21 strikeouts.

Milwaukee is 13-7 with Woodruff this season, and while it's only 1-3 over his last four starts, that's not his fault.

Over two career starts against Atlanta, both in 2019, Woodruff allowed three runs and ten hits through 14 2/3 innings. Milwaukee won both those games.

Splits With the Sticks

Milwaukee is batting .237 this season against left-handed pitching, with a .329 team OBP and a .405 team slugging percentage.

Atlanta is slashing .240/.325/.427 against right-handed pitching this season.
Brewers vs. Braves Prediction 7/31/21
Milwaukee gets our baseball handicapping check-marks in both the pitching match-up and the bullpen comparison. And it doesn't seem to matter who the Brewers put in the lineup lately; everybody's hitting. So we like Milwaukee here. And in knowing the visitors will bat nine times, we'll chase a better price and play the Brewers against the run line.
