Dodgers-Giants MLB Betting Preview

Los Angeles took the opener of this series Monday night 9-1, but San Francisco grabbed Tuesday's game 5-0. The Dodgers won Monday as -155 favorites with Julio Urias and covered against the run line at a price of +110. The Giants then won Tuesday as +140 underdogs. With Tuesday's win, San Francisco is 2-1 over its last three games. With Tuesday's loss, Los Angeles is 1-4 over its last five games. The Giants played 81-81 last year and missed the playoffs. Then over the off-season, they parted ways with some familiar names, added a few, but are they any better? This year San Francisco is playing against a "season wins" over/under of 81. The Dodgers won 111 games last year but lost to San Diego in the NLDS. Over the winter LA also shed some veteran talent, replacing it mostly with other veteran talent. This year the Blue Crew is playing against a wins O/U of 96. Los Angeles took the season series from the Giants last year, 15 games to four.

Wednesday's Pitching Match-Up

This pitching match-up is a rematch of two games from last season, both Dodgers victories. Cobb is 1/2 on quality starts this season. First, he gave up two runs - one earned - through only 3 2/3 innings against the Yankees, needing 76 pitches to get 11 outs. San Francisco won that game anyway, 7-5. Then he bounced back last Friday, albeit against a weak Kansas City team, when he allowed just two runs through seven innings, with zero walks and six strikeouts, although the Giants lost that game 3-1. Last year San Francisco only played 10-18 with Cobb, but that was probably three games worse, at least, than they should have played, based on his performance. Over four starts against the Dodgers last season Cobb allowed 12 runs and 23 hits through 21 2/3 innings, with 11 walks and 21 whiffs. The Giants lost all four of those games. Kershaw is also 1/2 on quality starts this year. First, he held Arizona to one run through six innings, with zero walks against nine K's, in a 10-1 LA win. But last Friday, those same Diamondbacks got him for four runs and two home runs through six frames of a 6-3 Dodgers defeat. Last year Los Angeles played 15-7 with Kershaw, and that's about what they should have been, based on his performance. Over four starts against San Francisco last season, Kershaw allowed nine ER and 16 hits through 18 1/3 innings, with five walks against 22 strikeouts. The Dodgers won three of those four games.

Dodgers at Giants Moneyline Bet 4/12/23
Although it's close, Kershaw gets the checkmark in the pitching match-up here. From there, we give Los Angeles edges in both the splits with the sticks and the bullpens. So we like the Dodgers. We also like taking chances. So in, knowing they'll bat nine times, we'll play LA against the run line at a price of +105.
