Houston: Mike Fiers (10-7, 4.64 ERA)

Seattle: James Paxton (4-6, 3.97 ERA)

Mike Fiers goes for the Astros tonight and in his last outing he was shelled giving up seven earned runs in only two innings in a 9-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Houston had won his previous four starts. Fiers only has one start against the Mariners this season and it was not a good one going three innings and giving up four earned runs, but the offense bailed him out in a 9-8 Houston win. In two career starts against the Mariners he is 0-1 with an ERA of 7.00.

James Paxton gets the call for the Mariners and in his last outing he gave up two earned runs in six innings in a 3-2 win over the Oakland A’s. Seattle had lost his previous three starts. Paxton would like to forget his lone start against Houston this season when he gave up six earned runs in five innings in a 7-3 Seattle loss. The Mariners are 2-8 in Paxton’s last 10 home starts and they have lost their last four games with him on the hill facing a team with a winning record.

Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners Prediction
The Astros have had the Mariners’ number in their last several games facing them and in their last two games overall they have combined to score 14 runs. Both starters are coming off less than stellar outings. In the Mariners eight game winning streak, which was snapped yesterday, they only had two wins facing a team that has a winning record. While Fiers was less than stellar in his last outing he was 2-0 in his previous four games, which were all Houston wins. The Mariners have only scored two runs in their last two games. With the Astros’ offense getting it done the last two games have to go with them in this game, which will not be a pitching duel.
