We've been waiting for San Francisco to begin fading for about a month now, occasionally betting against them because we don't believe they can play .626 ball all season long. It hasn't worked. Flexen's been great as of late, Manaea not as much, but Manaea tossed a beauty in beating Seattle in that June 2 match-up. So we're calling this pitching match-up a push. We're also calling the bullpen comparison a wash. We then move to the splits with the sticks, where we give Oakland a short edge. Looking a bit more big-picture, we expect the A's to stay in the AL playoff race and the Mariners to fade. So we're betting Oakland here for our free baseball betting pick for Thursday.  

We might think Cole owns an obvious edge in the pitching match-up but based on recent performance against these opponents, we'll call it a push. And our other main baseball handicapping factors also come out to about even. Also, New York is without several lineup regulars. So we like the baseball betting value here with Boston at the underdog price.

Also, following that 11-game losing skid we expect the Cubs to begin to bounce back. They're better than that. St. Louis, meanwhile, continues to puzzle us. Maybe the Cardinals are just bad; some of their numbers seem to say that. So we like the Cubbies for our free baseball betting pick for Saturday.

We're calling the pitching comparison in this game a wash, but we give Houston a significant edge in the splits with the sticks. Also, New York just puzzles us (and others) while the Astros are hot again. And when Houston gets hot, it rolls for weeks at a time. Milwaukee comes in hot but what it's really done recently is take advantage of a weak stretch in its schedule. Over the last month, the Brewers played Detroit, Arizona, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Colorado, and the Cubs; as of Monday, only one of those teams was above .500. Also, how often do we see a team go on a significant winning streak, then lose three or four games in a row? Woodruff gets our handicapping check-mark in the pitching match-up, but everything else is about equal, which to us creates some baseball betting value with New York. Los Angeles gets our handicapping check-marks in the pitching match-up and the bullpen comparison, and Washington might be without two key sticks. Bettors might want to check the lineups before getting down on this game. Obviously, we like the Dodgers here, but we're not big fans of that price. So in knowing the visitors will bat nine times (as long as it doesn't rain), we'll give the run and a half and play LA on the run line.

We give Montas the edge in the pitching match-up, and while Boston owns the edge with the sticks, Oakland owns the edge in the bullpen comparison. He has not been great in two starts against Los Angeles this season, but maybe he's learned something and can adjust. So we love the baseball betting value with San Francisco at the underdog price for Monday night.  

San Francisco is already 22 games above .500, but what will they finish at? The Giants are on a pace to win 105 games, but that's not gonna happen. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if they struggled to play .500 ball from here on out. And that thought suggests to us there may be good betting value fading San Francisco for the rest of the season. That might not be the greatest way to pick winners day by day, but that's how we're looking at this game. We're betting Oakland here for our free baseball pick for Friday.
