The Blues ended-up on the wrong end of a 6-3 loss this past Monday night as slight -109 home favorites. It was their third loss in the last four games of this series and they have been outscored 13-3 in those three defeats. The lone win was a 6-3 victory on the road in Game 4 as +142 underdogs and they will obviously need another strong effort like that on the road to force a Game 7 back home. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in seven of nine road games in this year's playoffs.

The good news for St. Louis was that David Backes and Robby Fabbri were in the lineup on Monday night after suffering injuries in Game 4, but after battling the Sharks to a 3-3 tie at the end of the second period, things quickly fell apart in the third. St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock decide to stick with Jake Allen as his starting goalie for a struggling Brian Elliott, but he got shelled for four goals on 25 shots before San Jose added two empty netters in the closing minute of play.

San Jose has kept the pressure on offensively with its fourth game in a row of scoring three or more goals. The Sharks have now won five of their last eight playoff games and going back to a 3-2 victory against Los Angeles in Game 4 of that opening round series they have reached the three-goal mark in 12 of 14 postseason games. Returning home, the total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in six of their last eight games at the SAP Center.

The trio of Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Logan Coutore have done the bulk of the damage in both this series and the playoffs in general. Pavelski (12 goals, 9 assists) netted two goals and an assist in Monday's win including the eventual game winner in the third period and Thornton (3 goals and 14 assist) added three assists to the winning cause. Couture added an assist to tie Thornton for the team lead in this category this offseason. Martin Jones stopped 18 of the 21 shots he faced in goal and his save percentage in the playoffs now stands at .918 with a 2.13 goals-against average in 17 starts.

St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks Game 6 Prediction
Both teams have shown some great resiliency in getting to this point of the playoffs and while I do have San Jose closing things out at home, my "best bet" pick in this one is the OVER on the total with the high scoring trend in the last few games continuing on Wednesday night.
