The Panthers lost to Wake Forest and Virginia Tech by just three points on the road in succession and then most recently to North Carolina in Chapel Hill where they were pummeled by the Tar Heels. Regardless of how good Pitt’s wins and losses look compared to GT losing to NC State at home for instance, this is a team that has had a lot of trouble away from the Steel City this season and they have struggled mightily in ACC play. As a result, it is safe to assume that the location of this contest can have a mental effect on both teams. In regards to Georgia Tech’s predicament in particular, the Jackets need to win and as a result need all the help they can get to foster a victory. There are many compelling reasons to believe Georgia Tech can do so in addition to relying solely on home court advantage. The Yellow Jackets boast the better defense, collect more rebounds and feature more depth on their bench.
