Cook made his debut in NASCAR in the Truck Series in 1996. Through more than a decade in the series he had moderate success posting six wins and 112 Top 10 finishes while racing for a number of different teams. In 2010 he got a chance to race in the Sprint Cup Series after joining a new team, Whitney Motorsports. He made his debut in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway and finished 37th.
